You see, I’ve always loved exercise, movement and been interested in health from a young age. In fact, I used to get up at 6am and tape Aerobics Oz Style at age 8 then do the workouts when I would get home from school! (True story, ask my parents who got our neighbour to build me a step instead of jumping up and down the phone books.)

When I was 14 I joined the local gym and told them I was 15 just so I could start doing the classes.

Fast forward to my early twenties, I was teaching 12+ fitness classes a week in gyms around Sydney and running a personal training business with other trainers working for me. I thought I was living my dream, but then extreme fatigue, anxiety and mild depression started to seep in.

THEN, I HIT BURNOUT. BADLY.

It got worse over a couple of years.

Finally, a holistic doctor diagnosed me with ‘adrenal fatigue.’ That’s burnout at its worst. Brain fog, lowered immune system, irregular sleep, stubborn belly fat and no energy EVER, just to name a few symptoms.

(NB – This is a debilitating condition that is becoming more widely recognised but not all doctors will diagnose it.)

It made sense though. Why I was feeling down, couldn’t cope, and getting sick all the time. My adrenal glands (which regulate energy metabolism in your body) were pushed to the max and needed a break.

“At that point, the exercise I loved for so many years became a major part of my body breaking down. I was overtraining and overstressed.”

So I made some decisions. I cut back on my energy output in all areas of my life and reduced teaching all these classes, as hard as it was at the time. It was a strange paradox – the thing I thought I had right in my life (fitness) was the thing I needed to completely overhaul!

It became my mission to re-discover what MIND & BODY HEALTH really was, and how I could exercise SMARTER, NOT HARDER in order to help heal this debilitating fatigue.

And I DID find what that perfect balance is.
HOW? Through exploring all movements under the sun (Yoga, Pilates, all variations on fitness styles & equipment, tai chi, meditation, reiki and more!), self-realisations, facing my own hard truths, and being open to learning and researching as much I could about

optimising my energy management.

If you know deep down that traditional, mainstream fitness programs just do not feel good for your body and you never achieve results, then you are in the RIGHT PLACE my friend.

Today, I am a single mum to Lincoln & Leon while running my business. They are gorgeous, energetic boys and we have a lot of fun together every day.
